Still Considering the Lobster

Still Considering the Lobster

Kottke.org is one of my favourite blogs, with great annotated links to random cool stuff.  I’m not sure if it makes me happy because I have a Cultural Studies degree and he covers similar stuff, or because it’s just plain awesome.

The article from Gourmet magazine on Considering the Lobster is touches on all kinds of interesting topics, including community festivals, fishing, tourism, humane treatment of animals, seafood, cooking and more.

Pitchfork's 2008 Year In Music

Pitchfork's 2008 Year In Music
Pitchfork is a website that does a great job in highlighting new, hip, alternative and/or independent music.  I don't have time to follow their every move, but their year end wrap-up is great.  For me, it's a great way to discover some great music, and it keeps me up to date with what the cool kids were listening to last year.

Solving common Windows problems

Help Clueless Relatives with Their Computer Problems - Lifehacker
Despite the uncharitable title, this looks like a good start for resolving serious problems with Windows computers.  The article has suggestions to deal with common problems, such as:

  • "It takes forever to start up."
  • "I keep getting a pop-up saying I need to pay for my antivirus software."
  • "When I get on the internet things look weird" or "I keep getting these annoying popup ads."
  • "I can't find the digital photos I downloaded last month."
  • "I'm running out of hard drive space."
  • "The internet stopped working."
