New Lego models with old Lego pieces

It's the coolest website you'll visit all day.  Enter in the Lego code for the sets of Lego that you have, and the website will tell you what other models you can build.  It also has the diagrams for the other sets.

I'm sure my Lego-fiend nephew would love this!

Lego Crafts

I have a certain nephew that I think would love these projects.  Some are food and some are crafts with Lego.
Pretty cool!

The lockout stinks, but this story about Eric Lindros is pretty entertaining.

Can health care learn from the quality control, cost control, and innovation used by restaurants, such as the Cheesecake Factory?

The Next Moneyball in Baseball

The competitive gap is closing in new stadiums and statistical analyses, so what areas will baseball teams mine for advantages in the future?
Although this article has a baseball focus, the moneyball ideas have been used in every other sport, including hockey.  The ideas that make the most sense for hockey are injury prevention and better drafting.

Did Scott Gomez score last night?

I'm a big fan of ex-Surrey Eagles, and current Montreal Canadiens player, Scott Gomez.  But he is having a rough, rough year on the scoreboard:  http://www.didgomezscore.com/

On the other hand, there is an argument that Gomez is a good defensive and playmaking forward.

The 2011 Music Compilation

One of my annual traditions is compiling a CD of some of the most interesting music from the past year, and sharing them with my friends.

The 2011 CompilationA Month Away is ready.  This year, there is some funk, some dance, some introspective moody stuff, some mellow tunes, and everything in between.  The tracks are accessible (and clean) but you probably haven't heard on the radio, so put it on and let it play.  Hopefully you'll be introduced to a couple of new songs/ artists.

Traditionally, I've burned the compilation onto a CD, but this year, I'm going all digital.  Click the grey "Download this file" link to download the zip file.  Wait for a few minutes (it's a large 200MB file).  Open the zip file, and put the MP3 files into iTunes.   If the link doesn't work, there is another download available here.

In the next couple of weeks, I'll finish a "Remixes" compilation and put together my favourite live musical performances and interviews from 2011.

All the best for you and your family in 2012, Chris

Some of 2011's Best MP3s

I've been checking out a lot of the "Best of 2011 in Music" reviews over the past month.

I discovered a lot of great tracks at this website: Sunset in the Rearview Presents: Top Songs of 2011.  Some favourites are Frank Ocean, the Adele remix, and Jhameel.

In one or two clicks, you can Download Best Songs of 2011 here

Why I like the Sedin Twins, and why you don't

Great editorial from Yahoo!'s Puck Daddy blog explaining why the Vancouver Canucks' Daniel & Henrik Sedin deserve more respect than they get.
