Michael Moore's "SICKO" on Google Video

Michael Moore's "SICKO"

Michael Moore's new movie, Sicko, is about the state of the American medical system. For whatever reason, it has been posted on Google Video before it has even been released in theatres. I'm guessing that the director may have leaked it himself. Who knows? It's been getting great reviews, so check it before it disappears.

Correction: The video has been taken down.

Documentary about the State of Music in America

Before The Music Dies

Before The Music Dies is a new documentary about the state of music and the music industry in America. Through interviews with musicians, industry insiders, music critics, and fans, and performances by artists from The Dave Matthews Band and Erykah Badu to Seattle street performers and Mississippi gospel singers, the filmmakers try to figure out what’s right and what’s wrong with music.

Focusing on grassroots, word-of-mouth advertising, the filmmakers are promoting their movie by encouraging people to host a screening party. By giving away dvds to people wanting to host a screening party, the want to get hardcore music fans and their friends together to discuss the music, the industry, and the politics of it all, and hopefully, to inspire them to get involved.

Go to a screening of Before The Music Dies in your area, or host one yourself. Or send me an email, and watch Before The Music Dies with me this weekend.

Jesus' Life and Death from the BBC

BBC - Religion & Ethics - Jesus

The BBC, with their usual intellectual and professional rigour, has pages on each of the 19 major world religions.

Because of the titillating Discovery documentary tonight about the so-called Tomb of Jesus, I thought that it might be a good idea to point out the original story of Jesus' life.

These pages about the life of Jesus and the history of Christianity are well done, and include a bibliography of Jesus and His miracles, information about the history of Christianity and the church, audio documentaries, and a reading list. The articles are written by well-known academic scholars, and represent the views of mainstream theological scholars, and widely-held Christian beliefs about Jesus.
